KOTD | Mayhem | Event Predictions

Battle Fix May 9, 2012 News No Comments

This Saturday (May 12) is King of the Dot’s “Mayhem” event, which will be highlighted by four 2nd Round Grand Prix battles. There will also be a couple of interesting battles on the undercard, highlighting some of the newer talent from the division. BattleFix.com decided to put out our predictions for the battles going down, feel free to leave your own predictions in the comments below.

Note: This event will also have a beatbox battle between Eazy G and Busy Beats.

Kryple vs Ill Nye

illnye KOTD | Mayhem | Event PredictionsBoth of these guys showed enough promise in their first battles, to earn themselves placement on the card. This battle should be interesting, because each of them has what the other needs to stand out. Kryple’s delivery and performance earned him a win last time, even if he didn’t have any standout punches. Ill Nye managed to impress with his writing, but came off a bit nervous and timid when he delivered the material. Considering it was his first battle, and the nerves may have got to him, that is where I’m expecting to see the most improvement .

Prediction: Ill Nye

Ape Yola vs Dirty Harry

apeyola KOTD | Mayhem | Event PredictionsApe Yola is coming off of an impressive debut that got quite a bit of attention, and props from Lush One himself. Dirty Harry’s had a few Ground Zero battles in the past, and should be a good test for Ape Yola. If he’s able to maintain the momentum from his debut, and have a performance that at least lives up to the previous one, he should be able to get himself another victory.

Prediction: Ape Yola

Manik vs Nekkbone

nekkbone 150x150 KOTD | Mayhem | Event PredictionsThis has the potential to be one of the most entertaining battles, in a while. People have been waiting to see another Manik battle, ever since the drama unfolded following the 2 on 2 with Illmaculate and The Saurus. King of the Dot couldn’t have chosen a better opponent for him. Nekkbone’s steadily improved and earned himself the love of the crowd, with his off-brand humor and charisma. While you can expect plenty of material about being Native from both battlers, it will be Nekkbone’s humor that will decide the battle.

Prediction: Nekkbone

Daley vs McNight (GP)

daley KOTD | Mayhem | Event PredictionsMcNight earned himself this battle, with an upset over crowd favorite Forkfarm in round one of the Grand Prix. Daley’s coming off an impressive performance in a loss to Arcane, as well as a recent victory over Aspire. Being one of the 8 seeded battlers in the tournament, you’d have to give the leverage to Daley going into the battle. While there’s been a few surprising upsets in the Grand Prix so far, I don’t expect to see one in this battle.

Prediction: Daley

Caustic vs New’L (GP)

caustic KOTD | Mayhem | Event PredictionsCaustic had one of the most impressive debuts in King of the Dot history, when he faced Q Shinobi, back at Flatline. He comes into the Grand Prix as a heavy favorite to be the finalist coming out of the West, if not the eventual Grand Prix winner. New’L earned himself this chance with a win over Aspire, in round one of the tournament. I don’t expect there to be any surprises in this one, and expect to see Caustic earning himself another dominate victory.

Prediction: Caustic

Chedda Cheese vs EdWORDS (GP)

chedda 150x150 KOTD | Mayhem | Event PredictionsEdWORDS has shown a lot of improvement in recent battles, and managed to beat Adamantium in round one, to earn himself a shot at Chedda. As long as EdWORDS comes prepared, he should impress quite a few people in this battle. His writing and delivery have both show improvements, and he seems to finally be coming into his own as a battler. Chedda’s just too consistent, and has one of the best flows in King of the Dot, not to mention his ability to take control of a crowd.

Prediction: Chedda Cheese

Fingaz vs Aftershock (GP)

Fingaz KOTD | Mayhem | Event PredictionsI expect this to be the most closely-contested battle of the GP, on the card. Fingaz finally lived up to his potential with his last performance, edging out a win over Sun Tzu, in the highlight of the first round. In the pre-battle interview, he spoke about his recent troubles with chokes, and seemed to realize the importance of being prepared. While Aftershock has to be the heavy favorite going into the battle, I’m going out on a limb and predicting that Fingaz will have the battle of his career, and upset Aftershock.

Prediction: Fingaz
